Jim Hagemann Snabe – Biography

Born in 1965, Jim has a long and storied history with leadership and technology. 

In 1990 he started as a consultant for SAP AG, the German multinational software corporation. He left the company in 1994 for a two-year stint as the Practice Leader of Management for IBM Denmark. In 1996 he returned to SAP and, after a few years, became the Co-CEO of the company. In 2014, he stepped back from the position as Co-CEO and became a board member until 2017.

In 2017, he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG and Chairman of the Board of Directors of A.P. Møller–Mærsk A/S. The latter of these two he just handed over to his successor in 2022. In both organisations, Jim has functioned as a key figure in their reinventions from a position of strength. He is also currently a board member at C3 AI, a leading provider of enterprise AI, as well as he’s serving as a member of the Board of Trustees at the World Economic Forum (WEF).

The Founding of Dreams and Details Academy

In 2017, he co-wrote Dreams and Details – Reinvent Your Business and Your Leadership from a Position of Strength with Mikael Trolle. The book garnered considerable acclaim and a substantial following. This lead it to be named that year’s Book on Leadership by Lederne, a Danish interest organization for leaders and executives.

The experience lead them to co-found the Dreams and Details Academy (now Idonea) in 2018. The purpose of the Idonea is to broaden the knowledge of the Dreams and Details Leadership Model, and help leaders and businesses reinvent their leadership from a position of strength. By doing so, Idonea believes that it contributes to a more prosperous and balanced world – both in terms of economics and wealth, but also helping leaders to inspire and unleash human potential.

Jim Hagemann Snabe holds an M.Sc. in Operational Research and Finance from Aarhus University. In addition to being the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Siemens AG and the co-founder of Idonea he is also an adjunct professor at Copenhagen Business School (CBS).
